Work Play and Chardonnay: June Round-up

Work Play and Chardonnay: June Round-up

Is anyone out there a fan of the movie Spaceballs?  It's one of my favorite movies of all time.  The humor is stupid yet smart, visual and verbal. It's a movie love that I share with my father.  And you know what?  That man is nothing short of remarkable.  So there is that.

So why am I referencing Spaceballs?  There is a section in the movie where the spaceship is requested to go from ridiculous speed to ludicrous.  The speed is so darn fast that the galaxy goes plaid.  You know what, folks?  My June went plaid.  Plaid I say!

Here's a synopsis of June…my ludicrous speed month…

I stayed in a yurt for the first time.  A yurt is a glamping at it finest.  I want to do it again and I really, really hope it rains during my stay.  Rain on a yurt is mesmerizing and soothing.

Airbnb asked if they could use this photo via Instagram and my newbie blogger heart exploded (figuratively not literally)

I tried bread “dust” for the first time this month.  The crumbs I used to brush away from my shirt and pants (which I refer to as “shrapnel”) are now a component to a dish.  So if you see me eating crumbs off my shirt, don't judge…join in!

The Panzanella Salad at The Tennessee Truffle in Sanford, FL may have started a “Save the Bread Crumbs” movement.  I might order this slogan on a t-shirt via Etsy.

Walt Disney World removed June from the list of blackout dates for seasonal pass holders.  I marched my Mickey-loving a$$ to the Magic Kingdom with a Magic band and Fast Passes like a good Disnerd.

Gloomy skies aren't so gloomy at the Magic Kingdom.

There's a local wine market – Tim's Wine Market – that I have a monthly membership.  They hold events quite often including one that caught my oenophile's eyes.  An evening with Cambria vineyards including wine with cheese pairings.  Wine lover swoon…

Cambria
Check out my note to me on the placemat.  “Pace yourself with cheese”.

I made a wreath!  And I crushed it if I say so myself.

Wreath
I sing “She's Crafty” to myself whenever I look at my wreath.

In my RUT Roh…I Need a Little More Variety in My Life post, I wrote about all things that I wanted to experience.  The Dr. Phillips Center now has a checkmark!  Jared and I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban performed by the Orlando Philharmonic.  The movie played as the orchestra played the score.  It was a magical day!

Dovecote
Before the show we had a brunch at Dovecote in downtown Orlando.  The ham and cheese beignets were crispy, gooey goodness.

The Dr. Phillips Center was a success!  I want to see another movie with the score performed by a symphony again.  And again.  And again.

June ended with a literal splash when we bought tickets to the Disney H20 Glow Party at Typhoon Lagoon.  This was another internet Disney rabbit hole find for me.  Jared and I had the absolute best time and recommend it to anyone in or visiting the Orlando area that is water park enthusiasts.  We were able to easily walk onto all the water rides with a minimal wait and didn't have to deal with the oppressive Florida heat.  So.  Darn.  Awesome.

To say I enjoyed myself during June would be an understatement,  There was a lot to enjoy.  Of course, I intend to have fun in July, but there will be a little more of a focus on health, fitness, and self-care (I'm talking to you, #SlugLife).

What did you do in June that made you happy?  Did you try anything new?  What are you up to in July?  Do you want to be FitBit friends?  Why doesn't anyone want to be my FitBit friend?????!!!!!!
