Work Play and Chardonnay: June Round-up
Is anyone out there a fan of the movie Spaceballs?Β It’s one of my favorite movies of all time.Β The humor is stupid yet smart, visual and verbal. It’s a movie love that I share with my father.Β And you know what?Β That man is nothing short of remarkable.Β So there is that.
So why am I referencing Spaceballs?Β There is a section in the movie where the spaceship is requested to go from ridiculous speed to ludicrous.Β The speed is so darn fast that the galaxy goes plaid.Β You know what, folks?Β My June went plaid.Β Plaid I say!
Here’s a synopsis of June…my ludicrous speed month…
I stayed in a yurt for the first time.Β A yurt is a glamping at it finest.Β I want to do it again and I really, really hope it rains during my stay.Β Rain on a yurt is mesmerizing and soothing.

I tried bread “dust” for the first time this month.Β The crumbs I used to brush away from my shirt and pants (which I refer to as “shrapnel”) are now a component to a dish.Β So if you see me eating crumbs off my shirt, don’t judge…join in!

Walt Disney World removed June from the list of blackout dates for seasonal pass holders.Β I marched my Mickey-loving a$$ to the Magic Kingdom with a Magic band and Fast Passes like a good Disnerd.

There’s a local wine market –Β Tim’s Wine MarketΒ – that I have a monthly membership.Β They hold events quite often including one that caught my oenophile’s eyes.Β An evening with Cambria vineyards including wine with cheese pairings.Β Wine lover swoon…

I made a wreath!Β And I crushed it if I say so myself.

In myΒ RUT Rohβ¦I Need a Little More Variety in My LifeΒ post, I wrote about all things that I wanted to experience.Β The Dr. Phillips Center now has a checkmark!Β Jared and I went to see Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban performed by the Orlando Philharmonic.Β The movie played as the orchestra played the score.Β It was a magical day!

June ended with a literal splash when we bought tickets to the Disney H20 Glow Party at Typhoon Lagoon.Β This was another internet Disney rabbit hole find for me.Β Jared and I had the absolute best time and recommend it to anyone in or visiting the Orlando area that is water park enthusiasts.Β We were able to easily walk onto all the water rides with a minimal wait and didn’t have to deal with the oppressive Florida heat.Β So.Β Darn.Β Awesome.
To say I enjoyed myself during June would be an understatement,Β There was a lot to enjoy.Β Of course, I intend to have fun in July, but there will be a little more of a focus on health, fitness, and self-care (I’m talking to you, #SlugLife).
What did you do in June that made you happy?Β Did you try anything new?Β What are you up to in July?Β Do you want to be FitBit friends?Β Why doesn’t anyone want to be my FitBit friend?????!!!!!!
Check out the rest of my June posts!Β Links are below.

I couldn’t find you on FitBit! I tried like three times.
June was focused on our whole-house HVAC system upgrade! We now have proper AC! I did travel to Blacksburg, Virginia during that first weekend for the annual P.E.O. Virginia State Convention. We celebrated Father’s Day with my dad at our favorite local Chinese restaurant, Szechuan Inn. We saw Incredibles 2 and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom! We also went to a new-to-us brewery in Virginia Beach called Wasserhund Brewery for a friend’s birthday celebration. Amazing beer, house-made pizza, and fellowship!
For July, we’re submitting our greyhound adoption application! Yippee! We’re also planning on seeing Ant-Man and the Wasp and Mission: Impossible – Fallout. I want to take my mom to see Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Not many travel plans, since we’re saving our vacation for New York City in the fall!
lauriegannon1
Wow!!! Your June was ludicrous speed, too!!! I think we are going to see Jurassic World on the 4th. Did you guys like it?
And oh my goodness!!!! I love that you are going to adopt a greyhound! I canβt wait to see pictures!
Laura Beth
We really enjoyed it. Some parts of it were quite scary, to me, so seeing it on the big screen was thrilling.
Iβm so excited. Al has always had dogs, but this will be the first one that we will own together. Woohoo! And yes, there will be plenty of pictures.
anamericanintrovertinlondon
Congrats on the new member of your family!
Laura Beth
Thank you. We donβt have it yet. But, when we do, there will certainly be photos!
anamericanintrovertinlondon
Hahah! I just went to follow you so I could see doggie pics and now I have to go through my goodreads to see what B books Iβve read! What fun. Excuse while I jump down the rabbit hole!
Laura Beth
Have fun!

How many days are there in one month? You are a busy lady. Can I say, my stomach dropped when you were talking about exercising more in the days to come…βIβm talking to you,β you wrote, and I thought, βDonβt let it be me. Donβt let it be me! Phew. Glad Iβm not #Sluglife.
Looking forward to making a wreath with you at Christmas time!

I walked ten miles today! Take that #sluglife!

I hope you aren’t suffering the #BlisterLife after such a long trek! That’s some serious walking, Lady!
anamericanintrovertinlondon
Not the #blisterlife but most definitely the #sunburnedlife
lauriegannon1
I am singing a version of Adele’s “Hello From the Other Side” to you. It’s called “Aloe on Your Sunburned Side”. I sound very weepy and sincere singing it to you. π

Can’t wait to see what you July brings! Your June was spectacular indeed. Love the photos.
lauriegannon1
Thank you, Valerie! I’m thinking quite a few more workouts will add a little spice to my July (along with sore muscles). Happy July to you!

I want to stay in a Yurt so bad!! I love Disney, but don’t get there like I should and don’t live that far away.
lauriegannon1
Hi, Tammy! I absolutely recommend staying in a yurt. It’s pretty darn amazing. Danville also has a Yurt that is in a tree. You can either take stairs up or go up in the elevator he created out of a photo darkroom. It’s pretty spectacular!
Riah Tarango
What a fun month! I’ve stayed in a treehouse yurt before and it was such a beautiful stay!
lauriegannon1
How cool!!! Staying in a treehouse is definitely on my list of travel do’s! Where was the treehouse you stayed?
Sarah Bailey
What an amazing looking month! I love that you went to Disney as they removed the fact you couldn’t go that is fab!
lauriegannon1
It was so nice that they extended the Passholder blackout dates. Dole Whip in June is oh so nice!

lauriegannon1
Thank you so much for the blog name love! And I’m a Disney fanatic, too. π Disney is so much fun! There are so many things to do in and around the parks. I keep finding new activities.

Great post and wow, you are such a busy person and I am glad that you enjoyed the whole month of June. Such a lovely experiences and adventures.
lauriegannon1
I may have gone a bit overboard in June! I spent a lot of weekends at home and decided that I needed to change that. Boy…I changed that!!
ninalehan21
you are hard working π you shared a lot of your lovely experiences and adventures π i like Disney and looks like yous had an amazing time. i wanted to travel during the summer holidays but i am kinda of broke – π haha
lauriegannon1
June was definitely a fun month! Thankfully Disney removed the blackout in June for seasonal pass holders. That definitely helped!!
TheSuperMomLife
I’m so jealous of all the Disney fun! We don’t live far from there but we don’t go enough!
lauriegannon1
I always tend to go to Disney more during Food and Wine time. That’s definitely my favorite time of year to go to the parks.
Do you live in Florida or California? I love living so close to Disney. π
Adaleta AvdiΔ
It looks like you had an amazing month! Between Disney, all that food and wine I’m so jealous!
lauriegannon1
Hahaha! And in July I am trying to rectify all the food and wine with lots and lots of workouts. Balance is hard! (I’m not very coordinated)
Nadtja Villaver
Glad that you enjoyed your June! I love glamping. Looks like your glamping site “yurt’ is fun!
lauriegannon1
Glamping is definitely my preferred way to camp. There is a place in the Central Florida area that you can glamp in a teepee. I need to add that to my list!!! π
Corinne π (@WhatCorinneDid)
Sounds like june was a very good month for you! i am glad! disneyworld must have been amazing!
lauriegannon1
June was definitely a very enjoyable month! I’m hoping to have a fun July (and a slightly healthier month!)
Jessica Taylor
I am so jealous that you got to go to Disney! June is such a fantastic time to go!
lauriegannon1
It’s definitely fun to go in June, but always best to go after the thunderstorms have passed. It’s a much “cooler” experience. π
The Mad Mommy
Wow, you had quite the month! I love the Spaceballs reference.
lauriegannon1
This month was a little over-the-top. Or…maybe just a bit around Lord Helmet’s helmet. π
Simply Apostolia
So many happy momments in this post! I love it! I just got all those positive vibes from you! Sadly my June wasn’t really cool as I had some “issues” but will try to make July an amazing month!
lauriegannon1
I hope your βissuesβ have gotten better and that you have the best July!!!

sveeteskapes
I am always shocked at how quickly June goes by. And you had me at that first pic, looks so yum. Looks like a fun month for you.
lauriegannon1
June is just crazy. It blows February out of the water. π
Charli B
You look like you had a great June! We watched Jurassic Park and absolutely loved it, hope you enjoyed it! x
lauriegannon1
I just saw it not too long ago! The movie was fun, but I wish Chris Pratt had been a little more Chris Pratt. Does that make any sense? π
Wanda Lopez
WOW! You’ve been busy lady. Loved everything you covered during June, now I can’t wait to see what you have planned for July.
lauriegannon1
Hi, Wanda! I may have been a bit overzealous in the activities department in June, but I enjoyed every minute! July is a bit more workout focused. I wonder if I could do some squats around Disney? Hmm… π
bellainspiredgrace
You must tell me how you made that wreath! Like ASAP so I can make one for my new house! Fantastic month and glamping – I’m intrigued!!
lauriegannon1
Hi!!!! It was my very first wreath, so I am not an expert by any means. π I was taught to make small bouquets with the elements (herbs, olive branches, etc.) and then secure them to the form. You worked from section to section and then “fluffed” and added elements to fill it in. I am so glad I took the class and want to take another one when the holidays come around. Thank you so much for reading!!!
